It has been reported that USCG officers have often pointed out that the immersion suits onboard were not of an appropriate size for the crews wearing them.
This finding is based on SOLAS Reg. III/7.3 which states, “An immersion suit, complying with the requirements of section 2.3 of the Code or an anti-exposure suit complying with section 2.4 of the Code, of an appropriate size, shall be provided for every person assigned to crew the rescue boat or assigned to the marine evacuation system party.”
In cases where the manufacturers have specified the size ranges for wearers of immersion suits (e.g. max/min height and/or chest seize of wearers), please confirm once again whether the physical constitution of the crew meets the size ranges of the immersion suits onboard or not.
关于救生品的尺寸，类似要求还有救生衣。随着船员在海上生活水平的提高，许多海员都心宽体月半，以致于以前常规救生衣可能不适合某些大块头，所以自2010年7月1日起，“ if the adult lifejackets provided are not designed to fit persons weighing up to 140 kg and with a chest girth of up to 1,750 mm, a sufficient number of suitable accessories shall be available on board to allow them to be secured to such persons.”
